Bass Coast College is part of the South Gippsland Schools Music Program. Any student who enrols in instrumental music at BCC is part of the SGSMP and can take advantages of the opportunities the SGSMP can offer.

Founded in 1985, the SGSMP is a vibrant and exciting music program run cooperatively via a Committee of Management, between the five South Gippsland Schools – Korumburra, Leongatha, Mirboo North, Foster and Bass Coast College.

The program at BCC employs instructors in – Brass, Flute, Guitar, Percussion, Reed and Voice. Instruments are available for hire if required.

Learning an instrument at BCC as part of the SGSMP makes available to every student:

  • A weekly lesson
  • School band participation and attendance at band rehearsal one morning a week
  • Band tours and camps
  • Guest Artist Program, including workshops and concert
  • Performances at school functions

How do I join?

New Year 7 Students, are encouraged to attend the Music Information Evening where they will learn about:

  • Instruments avaliable
  • The amazing things we get up to SGSMP
  • How families can support their children to become great musicians PLUS, you will hear one of our College Ensembles performing.

First preference for instrument selection will be given to those who attend the evening, Students have the opportunity to try out instruments after the presentation.
